Currently, many reforms are underway in our country's education system, particularly in recent years, there has been significant exclusion of the Quran, Sunnah, and Arabic education from the mainstream curriculum. This trend reflects a growing disconnect between contemporary educational practices and the foundational teachings of Islam. As a result, students are increasingly deprived of the moral and ethical guidance that these religious texts provide. Without the integration of Quranic and Sunnah teachings, the curriculum tends to focus solely on secular knowledge, which may lead to a lack of understanding of one's cultural and religious identity. This exclusion not only undermines the holistic development of students but also raises concerns about their ability to navigate the complexities of the modern world while remaining rooted in their faith.

It is widely recognized that understanding the Quran and Sunnah cultivates piety, which in turn deters individuals from engaging in wrongdoing. Alarmingly, the rate of crime is increasing at a faster pace than that of education. This serves as evidence that an educational system lacking the moral guidance of the Quran and Sunnah may provide worldly knowledge, but it fails to instill true ethics.

We believe that our children's education should begin with the Quran. The Sahabah (RA), the Tabi‘un, and the Salaf al-Saliheen all prioritized memorizing the Quran at the onset of their educational journeys. The great Imams of the Muslim Ummah first committed the Quran to memory before pursuing other religious knowledge. Those of us who wish to nurture a strong sense of faith in our children should emulate the path of the Salaf. We will begin by helping our children memorize the Quran and subsequently guide them in their religious education, insha'Allah.

The goal of establishing Zaitoon Academy is to connect students with the Quran and nurture them into exemplary scholars.
